Flood Maps - Quinebaug River Watershed, 90-day appeal period

Quinebaug River watershed communities- Brooklyn, Danielson, Griswold, Jewett City, Killingly, Lisbon, North Stonington, Plainfield, Pomfret, Preston, Putnam, Sterling, Thompson, Voluntown

On April 7, 2022, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sent your Chief Elected Official a letter announcing the start of the 90-day appeal period for the Quinebaug River Watershed flood mapping project.  

Preliminary flood insurance rate maps (FIRM) and a flood insurance study (FIS) have been produced for your community.  This appeal period is an opportunity for the municipality or any property owners/residents to challenge the FIRM & FIS by providing additional scientific or technical data to FEMA.  

The appeal period began on April 21, 2022 and will end July 20, 2022.  Public notice of this appeal period was published in the Norwich Bulletin on April 14 & 21, 2022.  Appeal data can be sent or emailed to:
