Police Officer Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 21 Years Old or Older
  • Citizen of the United States
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License
  • Absolutely:

“NO” Felony Convictions
“NO” Domestic Violence Convictions
“NO” A and/or B Misdemeanor Convictions

  • Successfully Pass an Extensive Background Investigation
  • Psychological Testing
  • Substance Screening
  • Physical Agility Test 

Police Dispatcher

Plainfield Police Dispatchers are emergency communications professionals who are called upon to ensure the successful transmission of information from callers in distress to responding police personnel.  They must provide accurate and timely information to the officers and dispatch the appropriate personnel to incidents and emergencies.  Dispatchers are the lifeline of the Police Officers, as their instructions and information give them direction regarding how to proceed with the incident or emergency. The Plainfield Police Department utilizes both part-time and full-time dispatchers.  They must pass an extensive background investigation and complete all required trainings.

*Must work major holidays.  Additional hours per week may be required.

How to Apply

Any and all openings within the Plainfield Police Department will be posted on our site www.plainfieldctpolice.com.  The Plainfield Police Department is a member of the Law Enforcement Council and uses their services for portions of the POLICE OFFICER testing process.  Entry-Level Police Officer applicants must complete a written examination with the Law Enforcement Council prior to applying.  The Police Officer applicant must then apply online at www.policeapp.com when there is an opening.  Testing for Police Dispatchers are conducted by members of the Plainfield Police Department.  For any questions relating to the hiring process, please contact the Chief of Police, Mario Arriaga at (860) 564-0804 or email at m.arriaga@plainfieldctpolice.com.
